Social Market Foundation suggestion to pay for healthcare could be catastrophicWednesday 4 March 2015
‘Today's suggestions by the Social Market Foundation are dangerous and could lead to greater stress on the NHS and Social Care budgets,’ said Saga’s Paul Green.
Social Market Foundation suggestion to pay for healthcare could be catastrophic
‘Various health campaigns have highlighted the fact that many people already delay visiting a doctor for some of the most serious health conditions including cancer and alzheimers. Making people pay towards treatment or appointments, regardless of their income, is likely to further exacerbate this which could lead to even more conditions being diagnosed at a much later stage. Not only could this put lives at risk, the cost to the NHS and social care could be catastrophic and far outweigh any benefit gained from making these nominal charges.’
