Discover the rich heritage of historic cities Cruise on the beautiful Oder River Visit the Oskar Schindler Factory, Auschwitz, Colditz Castle and Checkpoint Charlie Plus: Exclusive solo travellers’ tour date

NEW: Medieval Kraków to Boho Berlin

Saga’s fascinating new escorted tour takes guests from Poland to Germany to discover the rich heritage of a selection of capitals and cities with visits to some of their historic landmarks.

The journey starts in Kraków to view the UNESCO-listed Wawel Castle, the atmospheric Jewish Quarter and the Oskar Schindler Factory, as depicted in the film Schindler’s List.

There is also an optional to visit to the Wieliczka salt mines, which were in operation from the 13th century to 2007. Amazing carvings, which range from shrines to monuments and even chandeliers, are all made from salt.

Guests stay three nights at the Golden Tulip Hotel (4Q) in Kraków city centre to offer time to explore before continuing on to Wroclaw.

En-route, the itinerary includes a visit to Auschwitz Concentration Camp, preserved as a poignant memorial to its victims.

During a two-night stay at the HP Park Plaza (4Q), close to Wroclaw's Old Town, guests join a tour of the ‘island’ of Ostrów Tumski – the oldest part of the city dominated by the Gothic double-towered cathedral. A relaxing afternoon cruise on the Oder River follows.

The tour crosses the border to uncover the historic attractions of Saxony’s Dresden with a stay in the Westin Bellevue (4Q) in heart of the city.

Dubbed the 'Florence of the Elbe', a Dresden tour introduces visitors to the city's baroque-style Zwinger Palace and the Frauenkirche. Time is factored in for a stroll around the Old Town, on the banks of the Elbe, to savour the graceful architecture.

There is also an optional cruise along the River Elbe to Pillnitz, passing beautiful scenery and historic castles such as Albrechtsberg, Lingnerschloss and Eckberg.

On the way to Berlin, guests take a scenic journey through a sweeping forest along the Lossnitgrundbahn, a narrow-gauge steam railway, and also visit Colditz Castle, which was used as a high-security prison during World War II.

A three-night stay at the Golden Tulip Hamburg Hotel (4Q), close to Tiergarten Park, is a perfect base for touring Berlin. Landmarks include Checkpoint Charlie, the infamous crossing point of the Berlin Wall, and the Brandenburg Gate. As well as a city tour there will be plenty of leisure time to visit the many museums, art galleries, shopping districts, restaurants and bars.

An exclusive tour for solo travellers, following the same itinerary, departs on April 25.
