Saga reserves whole of new hotel for solo guests on beautiful island of Brac, in Croatia

• All-inclusive accommodation and two full day tours

Saga is fast-coming a leader in solo holidays – the first company to introduce river cruise holidays exclusively for solo guests is now going one step further by reserving the whole of a new hotel in Croatia, on two departure dates, to create an especially sociable atmosphere for solo guests.

Hotel Osam is a friendly boutique hotel which opened in summer 2015 on the island of Brac, in Croatia. In the peaceful old town setting of Supetar, it has an outdoor pool and views of the Adriatic.

Guests stay on an all-inclusive basis and can enjoy buffet breakfasts and waiter-served lunches and dinners in the restaurant which features a terrace with sea views – perfect for alfresco dining. Included local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available from the bar between 10am and 10pm daily and in the evenings, a rooftop bar offers views across the bay to Split.

Brac is the largest of the Dalmatian coast's string of unspoilt islands, with peaceful bays and beautiful countryside punctuated by traditional villages, olive groves and vineyards. A full day’s tour of the island is included in the holiday price.

The island is famous for its white stone, which was used to build the Royal Palace in Stockholm and the White House. Students travel from across the world join the island’s top stone masonry school.

The ferry crossing from Supetar to Split takes under an hour and the Saga holiday also includes a day’s walking tour of Split, the regional capital of Dalmatia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Much of the Roman structure of Split survives, including the Mausoleum of Diocletian and the Peristyle – a courtyard surrounded by Corinthian columns and now an attractive square.

Further optional excursions include a tour of Postira, where sand and pebble coves lace the shores of this quintessential fishing village, and the popular destination of Dol, a traditional village of stone-built houses that rest against the slope of a hill, surrounded by rich greenery.

A short cruise to Milna, known for fishing and wine growing, due to its sheltered setting in a bay on the south-west corner of Brac, is another tour option, so too is Omis, at the mouth of the emerald green Cetina River, a pretty town of ancient stone buildings capped with bright-red tiles.
