Older customers could give BT the red card after European football deal
As BT wins the rights to European football with a bid of £1.18bn, almost £300m more than it paid for the rights in 2013, reports suggest that BT would not deny today that all of their customers could end up footing the increased bill – regardless of whether they have any interest in sports.
Saga’s director of communications Paul Green commented, “This news, whilst great for sport fans, makes it even more important that the Regulators proposals to force BT to cut the cost of landlines is adopted - or else many elderly and vulnerable people who rely on phones as a lifeline, will be paying the penalty and showing BT the Red Card.”
