Saga's fundraising fortnight kicked off in style last Saturday with the annual Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water.

Saga employees showed what they were made of in a magnificent display of rowing at the annual Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water, the first of many sponsorship events planned for Fundraising Fortnight 2012.

The Dragon Boat Festival is the largest event of its type in Europe, with 85 teams competing over the weekend in 8 dragon boats.

Set on the border of Kent and East Sussex in the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bewl Water is the perfect backdrop for this spectacular event.

Saga had the strongest presence at the event on Saturday with a grand total of six teams taking part. These teams included staff from Folkestone, Hastings and Thanet, all battling it out in glorious sunshine to raise funds for the Saga Respite for Carers Trust and the Saga Charitable Trust.

A good day was certainly had by all, and our gallant rowers are expected to have raised over £6,000 which will go a long way in providing much needed breaks for unpaid carers in the UK and supporting underprivileged communities in the developing world.
