15 May School
In the heart of Ho Chi Minh City is a school that is making a very real difference to the lives of more than 200 youngsters, aged from 8 to 18.
The 15 May School is named after the National Youth Awareness Day and provides free education for children from the poorest families and also accommodation for street children and those at risk. Timetables are tailored to suit those who have to work during the day and there is a strong focus on vocational training to help prepare children for employment.
The Saga Charitable Trust has helped by funding much-needed improvements to the school, such as toilet and shower facilities and a computer training room. We are also assisting the school to set up a ‘transition to adulthood’ programme that will help resident children who reach the age of 18 to become independent adults.
