It’s our Diamond Anniversary! And Saga's stronger than ever

By Saga correspondent , Friday 25 November 2011

Alphabet N November 2011 has been a big month for Saga Travel – it’s our 60th birthday. And look how far we’ve come. From those off-peak package breaks to Folkestone in 1951 we now go all round the world: from Borneo and Bhutan; St Lucia to South Africa and from Morocco and Madagascar.

One thing hasn’t changed though - now, as then, nothing’s too much trouble when it comes to our customers. The sheer quality of what we offer and the care we take is why we are still here - and going from strength to strength.

If you’re dreaming of a holiday in 2012, choosing where to go might be hard, but since we’ve had years to perfect what we do, here are our five top suggestions for a Saga holiday to suit you.

1. Spain - Parador De Salamanca

The Parador is set on a hillside amid pleasant, peaceful gardens with stunning views across the Tormes River to the historic city centre, which is easy to access and explore.

2. South Africa – World in One Country

The perfect safari experience offering the chance to see the "big five".

3. Thailand – Kamala Beach Resort

Brand new for 2012, this stylish hotel offers outstanding value and a fantastic location on the west coast of Phuket.

4. Croatia – Coastal Cruising

The coast of Croatia offers stunning views, beautiful islands and historic cities to explore and all with a wonderful year round climate. 2012 sees the introduction of the new Croatian Island Explorer, which includes the four fascinating islands of Krk, Rab, Losinj and Cres.

5. St Lucia – Bel Jou

Offering views over Castries and the Caribbean Sea, the Bel Jou provides the levels of service and quality that Saga customers have come to expect.

Whether you’re after wild adventure or peaceful relaxation; exertion or pampering; a dream life experience or just weekend away, there’s a Saga holiday just for you.

Did You Know...

Our price promise means that if the price of your holiday comes down for any reason once booked, we’ll pass on the saving.

We’ve celebrated our third consecutive win from the readers of Which? Magazine for our excellent levels of service.

In 2012, our fourth ship Saga Sapphire sets sail with iPads, hot tubs and an open air cinema aboard.

This year we introduced a chauffeured VIP Door To Door ‘there and back’ service for our Travellers' World holidaymakers.

Our "No Surprise" policy, ensures the only surprises are nice ones (such as trips to see orang-utans, penguins etc) because we include all the big stuff in our holiday price, even insurance, visas and taxes.

Our volunteer holidays in St Lucia, Sri Lanka and Nepal have changed lives and given customers inimitable experiences in the process. They are not for profit and have raised more than £1 million for our own Saga Charitable Trust.

We’re the only company to cater exclusively for and evolve with Britain’s over-50s: that’s a lot of know-how about getting it right.
