Saga has teamed up with people and places to provide Saga Volunteer Travel, which offers you the opportunity to give back something of your knowledge, experience and skills to people economically less fortunate than ourselves. For those who crave more than just lounging by a pool, Saga Volunteer Travel gives you the chance to really make a difference where it matters.

The programs have proved extremely popular, and we are expanding to new destinations and countries.

We have also linked up with the Saga Charitable Trust, which already supports a number of sustainable projects in developing countries, many of which are already visited by Saga travellers.

The intentions of Saga Volunteer Travel are…

  • To ensure a good match between volunteer and project
  • To provide a challenging and rewarding experience for volunteers and communities alike
  • To ensure that the vast majority of the volunteer funds benefit the local economy

You can add a volunteer experience onto your existing Saga holiday, or travel abroad solely for the volunteer experience. Whatever you choose, you will still be able to enjoy the high standards of accommodation and service for which Saga holidays are renowned.

Our projects are based in South Africa and Nepal, and include preparing children for university, mentoring high school students and child care, support for orphans. You can read about these projects here.

We do everything possible to ensure that your volunteer experience is meaningful and rewarding – both for you and the community where you work.

These volunteer experiences are for four weeks and will offer something for all travellers, whether they come to a project with specific skills or simply have the desire to put something back into the local communities in destinations that host Saga holidaymakers.

Everyone can make a valuable contribution… as long as they have an open mind and willing spirit. Saga Volunteer Travel will give you the opportunity to travel and meet new cultures, share and develop your skills, assist local communities in need, and maybe even learn a little more about yourself.
