Spring Stampex International 2018

01 February 2018

Looking for a new hobby in 2018? Stamp collecting is loved by over 60 million people around the world.

Stampex International brings around 10,000 of philatelists together twice a year. Entry to the show is free and offers a great opportunity to find out about this popular hobby and meet friendly people from the world of stamps.

Stampex International, sponsored by Stanley Gibbons, is the UK’s largest philatelic exhibition, showcasing a masterful presentation of collected stamps from stamp dealers and specialists from across the world. This 4-day event brings together philatelists from around the world and attracts stamp enthusiasts who want to learn more about the history of stamps and the hobby itself. The show is organised twice a year by The Philatelic Traders’ Society (PTS). Formed in 1929 by a group of established stamp dealers, The Philatelic Traders’ Society was created to act for and on behalf of its members for the good of philately.

Spring Stampex International 2018 will take place at the Business Design Centre (BDC) in Islington, London from 14-17th February 2018.

Bill Barrel Hosts 'Penny Reds Made Easy'

Spring Stampex, Bill Barrell and Mike Williams will be inviting people down to demystify the 1d red. They will be on stand 69 on Friday 16th February 2018 between 10.00am until 4.00pm to answer any queries on the Great Britain QV 1d red (SG7-SG44). Collectors are very welcome to simply turn up with their questions or bring along their difficult items for discussion (No plate 77's on part cover from Victor Hugo to Bruxelles please!).

Learn how to identify your 1d reds, the basics of plate identification, shading and most other aspects. Plating of stamps can be done on the stand in presence of the collector, if time allows.

Court of Honour Stand 105

We are pleased to announce we have Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s childhood stamp collection on show throughout Stampex.

Stamp Active G14-G15

The theme of the children's activities at Spring Stampex International 2018 will be "Transport". We will be providing free goodie bags for all the children. The free children’s auction will be held at 2pm on Saturday (with a draw for a Penny Black for all those who take part) and a prize draw for all visitors who “Bring a Child to Stampex”.

Unlike most other London-based shows, entry to Stampex International is free and all who visit may purchase a show-specific Limited Edition Smilers Sheet and a free showguide and postcard; all of which make lovely keepsakes and souvenirs and are highly collectable pieces.
