The beauty of Norway: a favourite among solo travellers

As many as a fifth of Saga Travellers choose to take a solo holiday with us every year.

We have lots of holidays designed exclusively for people travelling on their own, and solo travellers are more than welcome on our regular itineraries.

One of our most popular destinations is Scandinavia and our Norwegian Cruises are always full of laughter, spectacle and luxury.

Fjords, Glaciers & Northern Lights

A number of Saga Cruises take you right into the heart of Norway’s most impressive fjords.

These submerged glacial valleys are the perfect destination for a cruise, with steep cliffs all around and thundering glacial waterfalls to gaze at.

Avid photographers will be spoilt for choice. Travel on the Summertime in the Fjords cruise and you will spend a leisurely day cruising along the spectacular Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in the country, not to mention one of the most beautiful.

You’ll also sail past cascading waterfalls to Geiranger, can head up to the dizzying flat-topped cliff of Pulpit Rock, and visit the charming city of Bergen.

Norwegian cities

Norway has some fine cities and solo travellers will enjoy exploring them on days in port. The capital, Oslo, has plenty of rich history including world-famous paintings like Edvard Munch’s The Scream, which is held in The National Gallery.

Beautiful Bergen is the gateway to the fjords and home to the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf – a colourful harbour with quaint cobbled streets.

Visit these magnificent cities and smaller towns like Flåm – home to one of the most picturesque railway journeys in the world – on the Norwegian Cities and Fjords Cruise.

Chauffeur driven service

There is no need to worry about travelling on your own to the port at the beginning of your journey with Saga, as we include a door-to-door chauffer service on both legs of your trip.

On the day of your holiday a chauffeur will arrive at your home, load your luggage for you and take you straight to Dover or Southampton.

If you would prefer to drive yourself we offer free parking at the port as standard.

Great value for money

From the sailaway cocktail party at the beginning of your voyage to entertainment, dinner, complimentary wine and more, a Saga Cruise offers unbeatable value for money.

Your personal Cruise Consultant will take care of your travel plans and inform you of all the benefits available to you.

A private cabin

Whether you are in the mood to socialise or are looking for a quiet break, with a private cabin you will always have a pleasant sanctuary aboard our ships.

On both the Saga Sapphire and the Saga Pearl II up to a fifth of the cabins are reserved exclusively for solo travellers.

Features that come as standard include an en-suite bathroom, dressing table, wardrobe, flat screen TV and mini fridge. Paradise!
