Shares are high-risk investments. Share prices and the income from them can fall as well as rise and you may not get back the full amount invested. Saga Share Direct does not offer advice. If you are unsure whether this service is suitable for you, please consult a financial adviser.

Saga Share Direct's Certificated Dealing service, provided by Equiniti Financial Services Limited, allows over 50s to buy and sell share certificates easily over the telephone.

For UK residents aged 50 and over.

What is it?

Saga Share Direct offers traditional dealing with a quick and easy-to-use certificated service.

Read our complete guide to the Saga Share Direct Certificated Dealing account.

Saga Share Direct is provided by Equiniti Financial Services Limited.

How does it work?

The Certificated Dealing service is operated over the telephone. You can open an account quickly and place a trade at the same time, just call 0800 015 2542.

You can buy and sell share certificates during stock market opening hours (Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm, excluding Bank Holidays) or call us right up to 6pm for any other account queries. Simply call the dealing line to give your instruction to one of our teams, who will provide you with real time prices.

There are no annual account management fees and commission is charged per deal. To purchase shares you will need to pay for the shares by debit card. The commission charge (and any other fees e.g. Stamp Duty Reserve Tax) on purchases must be paid by debit card (as part of the total cost of the purchase) and on sales will be deducted from the proceeds of any shares you sell.

Key features

  • Commission from as little as £25 up to a maximum of £100 per trade.

  • No annual account management fees.

  • Real time price quotes, with immediate confirmation.

  • Buy and sell certificates in a large number of companies.

  • Lines are open 8am to 6pm.

  • 'At Best' facility lets you instruct the agent to deal at the best possible price.

How it can help

Purchasing and holding your own share certificates through Saga Share Direct’s Certificated Dealing Service means you become the legal owner. Some companies have certain benefits for shareholders that are only available if you are the named shareholder on the register, which means you may be able to take advantage of these.

If you are comfortable making your own investment decisions or enjoy managing your own finances, use our service to start trading shares. Just call 0800 015 2542 to open an account.
