Car theft rife in the West Midlands

  • 56% more cars stolen than UK average
  • 12% more likely to experience theft from vehicle

Research from Saga Motor Insurance today reveals the regional differences between motor insurance claims in the UK.* Car owners in the West Midlands are 56% more likely to have their car stolen than the national average and 12% more likely to experience their personal belongings going missing from inside the vehicle.

Motorists in the region seem to have more valuable cars than the majority, as stolen motor claims in the West Midlands cost 16% more than the national average to settle.

On the upside though, the region overall makes just as many claims as the rest of the country and 9% less claims for damaged windows, suggesting that the roads in the area are in better condition than some, including the East Midlands, where motorists make almost 20% more windscreen claims than average.
