Out at 65 not cricket - Saga comments on European Court of Justice ruling
Emma Soames, Saga editor-at-large, said:
“Older people bring a lifetime's worth of experience to businesses, which is especially valuable in these turbulent times. Apart from playing a vital role in the economy at large, many simply can't afford to stop working now that their pension pots are greatly reduced and their retirement income from savings is dwindling."
"Although today's ruling is disappointing as it means that workers can still be forced to retire at 65, we would welcome the government's intention to re-examine the issue."
“Declaring someone out at 65 just isn't cricket.”
