Over 50s support return to old fashioned GP values

"Jeremy Hunt's proposals to bring back 'old fashioned GP values' will be warmly welcomed by the over 50s" says Tim Pethick, strategy director for over 50s experts Saga.

Over 50s support return to old fashioned GP values

"Saga research of more than 10,000 over 50s has shown that three quarters strongly support the government's proposals for GPs to be more involved in their overall health and social care needs.

"Regardless of age, many of us can recall the levels of support that we used to get from the local doctor's surgery, so it is no surprise that more than nine in ten over 50s would wholly trust their GP to tell them the truth and therefore hanker for a return to 'the good old days'.  Having a GP, who you trust and respect, as your main point of contact when you fall ill is invaluable".

Saga populus poll surveyed 10, 045 Saga customers, all aged 50+, online between 20 and 26 September 2013.  Populus is a member of the British Polling council and abides by its rules.
