Last week, thousands of passengers were affected by air traffic control computer failures, leading to large numbers of flights being cancelled and unable to take to the skies. Saga Travel's Louis Myers said:

"These issues, which also happened in December 2013, are unacceptable and have left those wanting to fly away and catch some winter sun, or to be reunited for the festive period with relatives abroad, inconvenienced and unhappy. 

We are calling on the Government to offer compensation to all those affected.  Whether their flights were delayed, or the issue resulted in a total cancellation, the very least people should expect is a refund from the Government of Air Passenger Duty for any delays over five hours.  We hope the Government review of the incident will include a call for compensation for the flying public."
