Tour two of Europe’s most unspoilt islands on new Saga tour
Revel in the beauty of Corsica and Sardinia
Delight in the contrasting beauty of Corsica and Sardinia on a new Saga escorted journey.
Explore the rugged landscapes and dramatic coastlines, starting in Cagliari, Sardinia, and travel through the countryside for four-night hotel stay on the Aghero coast.
Discover the craggy cliffs of Cape Caccia and take an optional excursion to Torralba’s prehistoric stone towers which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Tour Punta Negra, Stintino and Spiaggia della Pelosa on the northern periphery of Sardinia, but with an ancient Spanish influence. These beautiful parts of the island are characterised by white beaches and tranquil, transparent waters.
The islands’ contrasting and unique identities are revealed on this 12-night trip which starts in the south of Sardinia.
Compare the scenery of the two islands by crossing to Porto Torres in the south of Corsica. Travel north to spend three nights in stylish Calvi, with its beautiful citadel and French Riveria-style port.
There are plenty of al-fresco waterfront bars and restaurants which are perfect for watching the superyachts and perhaps celeb-spotting! Jet-setters have long been attracted to Calvi, among them: Monaco’s honeymooning Grace and Rainier, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Rod Stewart, Valentino, Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis.
Corsica has 1,000 kilometres of coastline with more than 200 beaches and dramatic limestone cliffs. Enjoy a day in the seaside town of Ile Rousse, at the foot of the Balagne hills, named after the islets that blush a deep red in the sunset. The town has a relaxed atmosphere, so amble to the tree-lined square where there are cafés and a lively market selling local goods.
Take a boat to La Maddalena, a national Park between Corsica and Sardinia. The archipelago is composed of seven isles of extraordinary beauty.
Return to Sardinia to explore exclusive resorts along the Emerald Coast and Aggius, a picturesque village built of granite stone in the Gallura region, characterised by jagged granite mountains. Travel through cork forests, with distinctive reddish bark trees and also the Valle della Luna (valley of the moon) north of Tempio Pausania to complete another of Saga’s award-winning escorted journeys.
12 nights from £1,349 departing Stansted airport. Price includes travel insurance, return flights and transfers, all breakfasts and seven dinners, tour manager and porterage.
