Learn from Antiques Roadshow’s Eric Knowles on a new Saga antiques holiday
Delve into the fascinating world of antiques with Eric Knowles, from BBC1’s Antiques Roadshow, on a specially-designed Saga holiday in Harrogate - the heart of Yorkshire.
Eric will share his knowledge during an exclusive talk and valuation session and guests can bring along antiques for valuation during their stay at the Best Western Cedar Court Hotel, a grade II listed building which overlooks the 200-acre Stray parkland.
Introduction to Antiques is new four-day antiques holiday which also features master-classes by host Nicholas Merchant and excursions to an antiques centre and two stately homes.
There will be a lectures on the furniture of David Linley; Queen Mary’s love of antiques collecting and the story behind tiaras.
Guests will enjoy an excursion to Harewood House, the family seat of the Earl and Countess of Harewood, which is renowned for its stunning architecture and rich collection of Chippendale furniture, fine porcelain and outstanding art.
There will also be a tour to Newby Hall which epitomises the Georgian era of elegance and is one of England's renowned Adam-style houses.
A visit to Harrogate Antiques Centre will give guests, inspired by the experts, the chance to browse or buy in the huge emporium.
Four nights £599 from April 19 or October 11, 2015 based on two sharing, includes half-board accommodation at the four-star Best Wester Cedar Court Hotel, a valuation session, three lectures and three excursions.

Eric Knowles inherited his love of antiques from his parents and in 1976 he joined London auctioneer Bonham’s, working first as a porter before becoming head of the ceramics department in 1981. Nicholas Merchant has worked for major auction houses and is particularly interested in 18th century English furniture. He is a National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Society lecturer.
