Discover Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa on our incredible new escorted tour

The Pride of Africa

Saga’s new The Pride of Africa escorted tour takes its name from the ultra-luxury Rovos Rail train which guests board for a three-night journey through South Africa. This once-in-a-lifetime holiday also includes game drives, crossing the Victoria Falls, sundowner cruises, visiting the Zulu Battlefields and exploring Cape Town.

Guests fly to Johannesburg and travel to Kasane for a three-night stay in safari lodge accommodation. There will be game drives through Botswana’s Chobe National Park, which has one of the largest concentrations of game in Africa, to look out for crocodiles, monkeys and lions. In the evening, a riverboat cruise will take passengers to areas where hippos, elephants and buffaloes are often seen.

Next stop will be Zimbabwe for a two-night stay at the Victoria Falls Hotel which overlooks the Victoria Falls Bridge. The tour will include time to discover the splendour of the Victoria Falls and to take advantage of another sunset cruise – this time on the Zambezi.

There will be a change of pace when guests embark Rovos Rail's exquisite vintage train, The Pride of Africa. As well as watching the world go by from the open-backed observation car there will be a stop at Hwange National Park for a game drive.

A relaxing journey across the border to South Africa will take guests through Marico Valley and past the awe-inspiring Magaliesberg Mountain Range. The iconic train journey will end in Pretoria, known as Jacaranda City – thanks to the 70,000 purple-flowering blossom trees in its parks and gardens. Spend two nights in Pretoria to explore the city and perhaps fit in visits to the National Zoological Gardens and Pretoria National Botanical Garden.

Guests will fly on to Cape Town for the last leg of the tour and stay the elegant 5Q Table Bay Hotel in the heart of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, one of the world’s most picturesque working harbours. There will be full-day tour of Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, including a stop at Boulders Beach to watch the enchanting African penguins to round up this incredible holiday.
