Calling all cruise virgins
Christmas decorations have been taken down but first-time Saga cruise guests can keep up spirits by booking a 2015 five-night Continental Christmas Markets cruise.
European Christmas markets create a magical festive spirit so what better time can there be for new-to-cruise guests to soak up the seasonal atmosphere and get a taste for cruising with Saga?
Peruse the stalls, where the aromas of freshly-baked gingerbread and hot glühwein fill the air, and take back handmade gifts and decorations for loved ones during tours from the Saga Pearl II.
An invitation to join the welcoming 400-passenger ship for the sailing to Germany, Holland and Belgium, includes a return chauffeur service (up to 250 miles) so guests travel in comfort to the Port of Southampton - and returning home laden with presents will be no problem!
Travel in a group of 10 guests and two will travel free of charge, plus if insurance is not required, £40pp can be reduced from an individual’s cruise price.
Saga’s value-packed classic cruises mean there is little to pay once on board as the price also includes all meals, 24-hour room service, afternoon tea, on-board gratuities, entertainment and activities, free wifi and a welcome cocktail party and Captain’s dinner.
Fine dining is one of Saga’s specialities and guests will enjoy mouth-watering cuisine in a choice of restaurants without the restraint of set sittings.
Guests will also find the friendliest of crews on Saga Pearl II which makes for a home-from-home feel about the ship. Decor is stylishly nautical and the deceptively spacious cabins offer plenty of storage and all mod cons for a comfortable cruise. The three ports of call on the Continental Christmas Markets cruise are:
Bremerhaven - Festively lit streets and seasonally decorated shop windows combine to make the trip to Bremen a picture-postcard Christmas Market experience. The historic market square hosts more than 160 Christmas stalls in front of the 600-year-old city hall.Ijmuiden - The gateway to the cosmopolitan Amsterdam, one of Europe’s truly great cities where elegant canals are lined by brick-gabled houses. Guests can shop ‘til they drop, hire a bike or visit the superb art galleries and museums. There will also be an optional tour to Arnhem.
Bruges – Visit the Christmas Market and enjoy the wonderful array of shops where visitors will find top fashions and accessories, hand-made chocolates and speciality beers. Stop for a hot chocolate in the market square or discover hidden corners of Bruges on an open-top boat cruise.
Saga Holidays is the winner of seven 2014 British Travel Awards including Best Specialist Small Ship Cruise Line.
