At a recent tasting event, Saga’s Britannia Club members selected a bottle of Balfour 1503 Rosé – which will be available in cabins booked by Britannia Club members on board the luxury cruise liners.

The wine is produced on the Hush Heath Estate in Staplehurst, Kent.  Balfour 1503 derives its name from the year in which Hush Heath Manor was built.

Hush Heath’s iconic Balfour sparkling wine was the first English sparkling wine to be served on First Class British Airways flights worldwide and are also enjoyed by travellers experiencing luxury rail travel aboard Belmond British Pullman trains (formerly known as the Orient Express).

Hush Heath Producer Richard Balfour-Lynn said:  “We are delighted to be working with Saga Shipping and Travel Retail, and Duty-Free Distributor Red Zero 7 to supply Saga’s exclusive Britannia Club members with our award winning English wine.”

Terry Wiseman, purchasing manager of Saga Cruises said: “Saga has developed its award winning Cruise Business by listening to what our customers want - the selection of the wine is no exception. During a recent exclusive event for our Britannia club members at the Hush Heath Estate, the Balfour 1503 Rosé was selected as the wine they would like in their cabins on future cruises.”

Andy Butcher, Managing Director of Red Zero 7 said:  “ We are delighted to be working with Saga Shipping and leading English wine brand Hush Heath Estate and look forward to establishing the Balfour 1503 brand in Travel Retail and Duty-Free markets worldwide.”

Visitors to the Hush Heath Estate in Staplehurst can enjoy free tastings and self-guided walks and, thanks to its recent acquisition and refurbishment of the nearby Goudhurst Inn, visits to the vineyards can be combined with a stay at the pub, restaurant and boutique hotel which is just 5 miles from the estate.  Hush Heath is open seven days a week from 11am to 5pm, including bank holidays and there is no need to pre-book.

Groups of 6 and over can choose to book a guided tour around the vineyards and winery, followed by a tutored tasting of Hush Heath’s wines and ciders for £15 per person, with the option to also order a delicious ‘picnic box’ for two at £25.  To book please email or call 01622 832 794.
