A month-long tour of Oz to meet Saga passengers’ wishes for an epic tour


Saga has devised an epic holiday Down Under in response to Saga passengers expressing their wish for a longer tour of Australia.

Ultimate Australia is a month-long exploration of the Red Continent offering guests the opportunity to experience the best of the country’s spirit from cosmopolitan capitals to outback communities, breath-taking deserts, rainforests and sun-kissed coasts.

Ultimate Australia is paced with one to four-night stays so guests have time to relax and savour Australia’s iconic sights. It starts with a three-night stay in Perth and an option to take a boat trip to Rottnest Island.In Darwin, guests will discover the savannah, billabongs and rocky escarpments before flying to Alice Springs.There will be two nights in Uluru which include a tour on life in The Alice, as well as the Flying Doctor base and old telegraph station.
A four-night stay in Cairns will take in Queensland’s rainforest and guests will be able to jump aboard the Kuranda Railway or Skyrail cableway. At the Great Barrier Reef, after cruising along the Mulgrave River, there will be a reef encounter on Frankland Island.

Guests will spend two nights in Brisbane to enjoy Queensland’s arty capital and visit the home of the late Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, on an optional excursion to Australia Zoo. Next stop, the capital of Canberra and an overnight stay to appreciate the city’s splendid setting and view the Australian War Memorial and Museum.

The tour will continue to Sydney for a three-night stay and an optional to reveal the immense beauty of the Blue Mountains. Next stop Melbourne for another three-night stop to visit Captain Cook’s family home and the scenic Great Ocean Drive, passing the Twelve Apostles limestone stacks en route to the harbour city of Portland. After an overnighter in Portland the tour will continue through the lush winelands of Coonawarra.
The tour concludes in graceful Adelaide, visit the koalas and kangaroos at Cleland Wildlife Park or an optional excursion to Kangaroo Island.
