Flavours of France and Spain – with chef Jean-Christophe Novelli
Enjoy cooking demonstrations by celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli during Saga Pearl II’s Flavours of France and Spain cruise. Jean-Christophe is a multi-Michelin Star award-winning chef who has been dubbed “The Nation’s Favourite French Chef” and he will also take part in an onboard Q&A session.
Jean-Christophe moved to Britain in 1983, working in restaurants including Keith Floyd's Maltster's Arms, in Devon. He won the first of two Michelin stars as Chef Patron at Gordleton Mill in Hampshire and was awarded Best Outstanding Dessert by Egon Ronay before becoming head chef at the Four Seasons Hotel in London.
The cruise will also include two days in Bordeaux to allow guests plenty of time to tour the vineyards. Options include the Medoc wine route, between the Gironde estuary and Landes forest, with magnificent views of the vineyards such as châteaux Margaux, Lafite Rothschild and Pichon Longueville.
Guests will also discover the magical town of Saint Emilion and visit a chateau where wine-making techniques will be explained during a tasting In Montoir, there will be a tour of the cellars and a wine tasting at Château de Chasseloir and the House of Chereau Carré.

Adriatic Explorer – with chef Phil Vickery
TV chef Phil Vickery will be headlining Saga Sapphire’s foodie-themed Adriatic Explorer cruise in May. He will present three cookery demonstrations and also discuss his work on devising gluten-free recipes and cookery options for people with other dietary requirements, including coeliac.
Phil is the National Food Ambassador for Coeliac UK and he said: “This part of my work is really important to me so I am keen to show guests the ‘science’ of how to successfully cook meals and choose ingredients.”
The cruise includes a visit to Leixoes (for Oporto), in Portugal, where guests can take an optional tour to Quinta da Aveleda estate which produces Vinho Verde wine and cognac Adega Velha.
In Mahon, Spain , join an optional excursion to Monte Toro and Binibeca which will include a visit to a family-run farm to taste cheese and local wine. High tea in the magnificent gardens of the grand 18th century Palazzo Parisio in Valletta, Malta, will be also be hard to resist on an optional excursion.
Further ports of call get a taste of more European cuisine include Dubrovnik, Hvar and Zadar in Croatia; Corfu, Caligari, in Sardinia and Gibraltar.
