Tharu Community Projects
The Trust has been proud to work with Tiger Mountain Tharu Lodge, on the edge of Chitwan National Park in Nepal, where we have supported numerous community initiatives designed to uplift those living in poverty and provide health and welfare benefits.
These initiatives have included educational programmes, such as community schools, micro-credit schemes and healthcare, all of which have been taken over by the local community to ensure they are managed and sustained into the future.
Saga staff fundraised for a new clinic at Tharu which replaced a dilapidated wood and mud structure, providing a safe and hygienic base from which free healthcare is provided to the community. Clinicians treat everything from rhino injuries to rabies – and the clinic is quite literally a lifeline for the villagers.
