Happy couple napping
Research by Saga suggests that young Brits are more stressed than people aged over 50 due to financial pressures, such as buying a first home.
More than two-thirds of Britons in their late teens and early 20s worry a lot about money, while only a fifth of the over 50s feel the same burden.
Andrew Goodsell, Saga chief executive, said: "It's well documented that many of today's baby-boomers have never had it so good.
"This study clearly shows that they are also the most relaxed and dispels the view that many have a mid-life crisis when they reach their 50s."
The findings echo a similar survey that was carried out in the US last year.
A Harris poll found that less than one in ten Americans over 60 experienced a lot of stress, compared with 29 per cent of adults in their 20s.
