ENBROOK PARK

Preserving its Legacy, Planning its Future

Before the pandemic Saga was Folkestone’s largest employer and had office space in the town for around 2,500 of its colleagues. During lockdown all of its local offices were closed and shortly after were emptied of furniture and put up for sale.

In early 2025 Saga decided to return to Enbrook Park, marking the start of an exciting new growth phase for the business. Building on its 75-year history in Folkestone, moving back was part of Saga’s long term growth plans, which included re-establishing connections with the local community and securing its long-term future at its Enbrook Park site.

While Enbrook Park could form a proud part of the renewed culture and vision at Saga, it is now oversized and expensive to maintain relative to its operational requirements. To fund our plans for The Pavilion and support the ongoing maintenance of Enbrook Park, we need to explore potential redevelopment of a small proportion of the overall area. The purpose of this website is to share more information about this, keeping our local community updated and inviting them to help shape our plans.

Drone main building

For decades, Enbrook Park has been a thriving hub of activity. At its peak, around 1,000 colleagues worked here daily, supporting a wider workforce of more than 5,000 people.

While modern hybrid working means around 400 to 500 colleagues are now on site each day, the spirit and significance of Enbrook Park remain as strong as ever.

The Pavilion, which used to accommodate Saga’s dining rooms, canteen and the company’s creche has fallen into a state of serious disrepair. The building needs substantial restoration and will require significant investment beyond what has already been invested since returning to Enbrook Park, to bring it back to life. The team at Saga is exploring the options to give it a new lease of life as a flexible, multi-purpose space not just for Saga colleagues but also to support local organisations and community events.

The transformation could see the landmark building reborn as a vibrant space for both Saga and the local community, ensuring it once again becomes a vibrant focal point for Sandgate and Folkestone.

Our aim is clear: to fund the transformation of The Pavilion through development of under-utilised areas representing a small proportion of the overall site. This approach is intended not only to respect the character of the area, but to bring positive benefits to the local community and local economy.

We’re excited about what the future holds — and we look forward to shaping it together.

Have your say
