He has a restaurant inside The Talbot Hotel, Malton, North Yorkshire and owns a restaurant specialising in British food called James Martin Manchester.
James Martin also has a passion for cars. He wrote a motoring column for The Mail on Sunday and has raced competitively for a number of years, becoming the 2013 Champion of Mini Festival. He also holds a private pilot licence.
