Jenai Laignel / 29 July 2014

If you're not used to opening your curtains in the morning and being greeted by a view of the sparkling ocean, then a UK cottage holiday by the beach could be just what you need.

Here is a list we've put together of some of our favourite rental cottages, all of them just a stone's throw away from the sea:

Instow House, Devon

The sleepy seaside village of Instow provides an ideal setting for this luxurious cottage. Adjoining another property, Instow House (pictured) also benefits from a large private garden which offers panoramic sea views.

Located just yards from the house are two excellent restaurants specialising in seafood and providing uninterrupted views across the bay towards Appledore.

Longships, Sennen

Situated in one of the most south-westerly points in England, you'll find three charming and beautifully furnished holiday cottages with stunning views over the bay and Sennen Cove.

The cottages are set amongst several acres of shared natural grounds and the stunning beach of Whitesand Bay is only a 250-yard walk away.

St Cadoc Cottage, Harlyn Bay (near Padstow)

Located just 400 yards from the picturesque sandy bay of Harlyn, and just two miles from the quaint and popular town of Padstow, you'll find this detached holiday cottage.

Sleeping up to four, the cottage oozes period charm with its slate floors and ornamental fireplaces throughout. There's also a woodburner (for chilly evenings in the winter) and a barbecue (for balmy evenings in the summer).

White Cottage, Lower Largo (near Leven)

This Scottish cottage looks out over Largo Bay and offers particularly stunning, uninterrupted sea views from the living room. There are some excellent golf courses in close proximity, as well as endless beach walks to discover.

Blue Sails, Llanfaes, Beaumaris, Anglesey

This traditional Welsh holiday cottage enjoys a fabulous setting right on the seashore. Fall asleep at night listening to the waves lap against the cottage's patio walls. It also has its own garden and glorious views of Snowdonia and Puffin Island.
