It’s a good idea to review your will every few years. If you’ve had a change of circumstances,  your will might need to be updated. Otherwise, there’s a risk it won’t be valid and might not meet your needs anymore.

Life events that can affect the status or validity of your will include:

• Marriage - in England and Wales, a will can become invalid after you get married.
• Divorce - your new marital status might need to be reflected in your will. 
• Births and deaths - you may need to add or remove beneficiaries from your will.
• Executor changes - if you need to change the executor, this must be reflected in your will.
