This month, we’re delighted to mark Saga’s 75th anniversary with an exquisite brand-new rose that will bring colour and fragrance to borders, pots and patios all summer long.
Created by Chelsea Gold Medal winners Harkness Roses, “The Saga Rose” is a striking floribunda with soft pink and apricot tones, a wonderfully strong scent, and a reputation for strength and reliability. It will be launched at the Chelsea Flower Show this month, before appearing at other flower shows across the year.
Saga and Harkness Roses – two family-founded businesses – initially came together in 1996 when Saga launched its first cruise ship, Saga Rose. Harkness bred a limited edition rose to mark the occasion, and many of those plants are still thriving in gardens across the country.
Philip Harkness, chairman of Harkness Roses, says, “Knowing how much joy and value Saga brings to so many people, it has been a great pleasure to develop a new rose especially for Saga. New rose varieties take many years to nurture, trial and perfect to ensure they perform beautifully in gardens across the UK. It’s wonderful to think that The Saga Rose will bring pleasure to the many gardeners who are part of the Saga community.’
We’d love you to help us celebrate 75 years of Saga with The Saga Rose – a rose that is sure to bring colour, fragrance and lasting enjoyment to your garden.
The full price for the rose is £24.99 potted or £17.99 bare root (autumn only) from Harkness Roses, but we have 75 to give away.
