Excellent smooth, creamy custard with good vanilla flavours and a pleasing texture. The sugar was not really enough to make a good caramel topping but nevertheless a delicious example of a traditional crème brûlée.
The supplied sachet of powdery sugar topping crisped up surprisingly well, but lacked the subtle sweetness of proper brown sugar.
The custard was a little bland and the consistency was too firm. That being said, this was a perfectly palatable dessert.
Despite lacking a strong vanilla flavour and being short on creaminess, the caramel was nice and crunchy and the overall taste was good. Nothing to write home about, but again, an appetising example of crème brûlée.
The crunchy, sugary top was the best thing about this crème brûlée. The custard was a good consistency but could have been somewhat creamier in taste.
There was little evidence of vanilla but, despite being nothing special, it was still satisfying.
We found it very difficult to remove the foil packaging, but once we eventually did, we found a rich-tasting custard oozing in strong vanilla flavours. The sugar topping was designed to be sprinkled and not grilled, which was fine, but slightly unusual for a crème brûlée.
However, once we put our own good-quality brown sugar on and caramelised it, it was delicious.
