Cold-busting grapefruit and berry smoothie

A delicious combination of immune-boosting grapefruit juice, strawberries and raspberries to up your vitamin C.

While the vitamin C in the fruit may not prevent you from getting a cold, research suggests it aid immune systems in reducing a cold’s symptoms and duration.

The pumpkin seeds add zinc, which seems to help protect against viruses.

Ingredients

150ml (5fl oz) pink grapefruit juice
50g (2oz) frozen strawberries
50g (2oz) frozen raspberries
100g (4oz) low-fat Greek yogurt
Handful of pumpkin seeds

Method

Combine the juice, yogurt and frozen berries in a blender until smooth.
Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4, scatter the pumpkin seeds on a baking tray and drizzle with a little olive oil.
Roast until the seeds are golden brown – about 10 minutes.
Allow to cool and add to the smoothie mix.
