Baked pears in sherry

With pears in season in October, why not make this delicious seasonal dessert? It’s extremely easy to throw together and uses very few ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 6 pears
  • 40g (1 ½ oz) soft brown sugar
  • 250ml (8fl oz) medium sherry
  • Juice of 1 lemon

To serve

  • Toasted flaked almonds

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F, gas 4.

Halve six pears and put them in an ovenproof dish.

Sprinkle with the soft brown sugar, then add the sherry and the juice of a lemon.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, basting every so often with the juices.

Sprinkle with toasted flaked almonds and serve.
