Winner: Tesco Chicken Caesar Salad

185g, £3.10

With ample succulent and tasty chicken, plentiful Italian hard cheese and a subtly tangy dressing, this was a delicious salad, especially if you like crunchy, peppery croutons.

2. M&S Chargrilled Chicken Caesar Salad

235g, £4.75

Very appetising with nicely chopped lettuce, luscious chicken and plenty of strong Parmesan shavings.

The liberal dressing was perfectly spiced, and the croutons were crispy. Pricey, but exquisite.

Excellently presented with an abundance of lettuce and the best dressing we tasted.

The croutons were crispy with a hint of pepper – if only the chicken and cheese had more flavour.

The lettuce was nice and sweet, and the Parmesan had a delicious strong flavour.

The huge chicken chunks tasted good, but the dressing and croutons were rather bland. Superb value.

Tasty lettuce, but overall, a disappointing salad with little flavour in the chicken and a mustard-heavy dressing.

The croutons were more melt in the mouth than crunchy, and the cheese had little substance.

Pleasant chunks of chargrilled chicken and excellent full-bodied cheese. The dressing was mild and the croutons crunchy, but the leaves were past their best.
