Enjoy the fun and freedom of a motorhome holiday

15 August 2017

More and more people are opting for the freedom and fun of a motorhome holiday. Fly to a beautiful destination, pick up the keys to a fully equipped house on wheels – and hit the open road!

Motorhome parked by lake with view of Mount Fuji, Japan
You can hire a motorhome in countries as far afield as Japan, where you can enjoy beautiful views of Mount Fuji.

If you’ve ever dreamt of trying something a little different, then discover a whole new holidaying experience with Worldwide Motorhoming Holidays.

A motorhome tour gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace as well as the security of knowing everything is taken care of, from campsite bookings to itineraries and excursions.

You’ll be amazed at where you can go, from popular destinations such as Australia, New Zealand and the USA, to places that will bring out your true pioneering spirit. The lush winelands of Argentina, for example. Or Japan, to experience a very different culture. Or an epic road trip under the vast skies of Southern Africa.

Worldwide Motorhoming Holidays provides Escorted Tours and tailor-made fly drive holidays to exciting destinations all over the world.
Their escorted tours mean you can travel just as you like – the freedom to stop at beauty spots and attractions is all yours. But there’s a sense of companionship, too. Your campsite, with fellow travellers, will be ready and waiting for you at the end of the day. There you can be as social as you like – perhaps swapping experiences over a glass of wine.

The itineraries include way more than motorhome hire, with excursions ranging from a ride on the Bullet Train in Japan to a meal with Maori hosts in New Zealand. Each trip is accompanied by hand-picked tour escorts, chosen for their enthusiasm and knowledge.

Worldwide Motorhoming Holidays offers escorted tours that mean you travel just as you like. The freedom to stop at beauty spots and attractions is all yours.

Where can I go?

There’s a world of adventure waiting at our destinations…

Q What’s it like to drive a motorhome?

A It’s fun! Driving abroad on wide, empty highways with a backdrop of stunning scenery is far less stressful than navigating the UK’s crowded roads. Anybody over 21 with a valid licence can drive a motorhome. Most have automatic transmission and in several of the countries we visit, driving is on the left.

Western Australia

Over 18 days on this 1,600-mile loop through Western Australia, you’ll take in dazzling white beaches, the red earth of the Outback and the vibrant city of Perth.

Taste the fine wines from Margaret River, swim with wild dolphins at Bunbury and learn about the Gold Rush at Kalgoorlie. Why not add on a long-distance train ride to Sydney afterwards?

Argentina

Gauchos at Cafayate, the passion of the tango in Buenos Aires and Talampaya National Park, famed for its fossils, are just three of the highlights of our 32-day holiday.

You’ll travel 3,200 miles round-trip from the capital against backdrops of the jagged Andes, the shimmering colours of the desert around Salta and the rolling vineyards of Mendoza.

Southern Africa

Q Can someone with limited mobility go on a motorhome holiday?

Yes, they can. Many rental companies offer vehicles with assisted access. Ask first to make sure you get the right one – and itinerary – for your needs. We’re part of the Camping and Caravanning Club, so you’re in good hands.

Spotting the Big Five in the Kruger National Park, the glorious coastal scenery of the Garden Route and three nights exploring beautiful Cape Town are just some of the highlights of the 28-day South Africa tour, during which you’ll cover 2,400 milesfrom the Cape to Johannesburg. You’ll see the battlefield at Rorke’s Drift and spend a night in a Zulu beehive hut, as well as visiting Addo Elephant Park.

More adventurous tourers can explore the fascinating countries of Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa on a 38-day discovery tour, covering 3,800 miles.

Japan

Each motorhome is fitted with an easy-to-use navigation system, to help you explore Japan on this beautiful 20-day tour when you’ll cover about 950 miles.

The buzz of three days in Tokyo is a real contrast to the spirituality of the countryside. There’s a trip on the Bullet Train to the Peace Park at Hiroshima and, of course, that iconic view of snow-capped Mount Fuji.

Q What’s in the motorhome?

A All are the best available for the local conditions and vary from comfortable vehicles best suited to the often challenging roads in Southern Africa to the positively palatial in the USA. All kitchen equipment, towels and bedding will be provided for your home-from-home. First time? No need to worry; when you pick up your vehicle, the rental company will talk you through all its facilities.

USA

With wide open highways and a friendly welcome in every campground, the USA is made for motorhome holidays. Tour Nevada and California, combining the glitz of Las Vegas with gorgeous San Francisco, wine country in the Napa Valley and the raw beauty of Big Sur on a 24-day, 1,500-mile journey south to LA.

Or get your kicks on Route 66 on a 37-day road trip from Las Vegas, looping 3,600 miles through the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Monument Valley in Utah, setting of many a Western.

Canada

A motorhomer’s dream, with well-equipped campsites where there’s a genuine community spirit. Marvel at the reds and golds of the early autumn colours and feel the spray of Niagara Falls on your face on a 22-day Great Lakes route, taking in Ottawa and the Thousand Islands along the 1,150-mile drive round-trip from Toronto. Or head west on a leisurely journey from Vancouver to Calgary.

Q What about the campsites?

A Some are luxurious, with shops and restaurants, while with others the trade-off may be fewer facilities but a stunning location – in a national park or by a tranquil lake, for example.

New Zealand

Laidback and beautiful, New Zealand is perfect for motorhoming beginners. You can easily tour North and South Islands in 34 days, a drive of 2,500 miles from Christchurch to Auckland via hot springs and creaking, blue-white glaciers.

Or opt for a 26-day New Zealand Highlights tour of 2,200 miles taking in Mount Cook and Rotorua.
