How much will I be able to borrow?

There are a range of different factors that are used to determine the amount you can borrow depending on your income, expenditure, credit history, age, personal circumstances and property type.

As a rule of thumb, for a standard repayment mortgage you could borrow up to around four and a half times your income. Some lenders go up to five and a half times but there can often be stricter criteria on deposit size and credit score.

Please be aware that your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up payments on your mortgage.

The quickest way to get a more accurate estimate of how much you could borrow is by completing the digital fact-find.

A mortgage is one of the biggest commitments you'll make, and with so many choices it can be hard to work out which one is right for you. Our mortgage calculator will show what you could borrow - you just need to input some basic info, such as your income and what deposit you'd have.
