Strawberry and pavlova trifle in a glass
Strawberry and pavlova trifle

Marinating time

10 minutes

Serves

4

Ingredients

  • 1 punnet strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry liqueur
  • 250g bought vanilla custard
  • 150-200g pavlova (bought or homemade)
  • 100g chopped dark or milk chocolate

Method

If you don't have a strawberry liqueur, you can substitute with other liquors like brandy, sherry and whisky. Basically, any of the traditional trifle liquors will do and likewise the fruit can be substituted for whatever is tasty and in season

Slice the strawberries into thin rounds. Toss with the strawberry liqueur and leave to marinate for 10 minutes.

Careful to keep the layers flat, spoon the strawberries with liqueur and custard into 4 serving glasses, separating each layer with crumbled pavlova and chopped chocolate.

Serve immediately.

Pavlova by Genevieve Knights is published by Accent Press, priced £7.99.
