Annuities are still one of the most popular ways for people to convert their pension savings into an annual income in order to fund their retirement.
The amount you receive will depend on a number of factors, such as the age you wish to buy your annuity, the size of your pension fund, and whether or not you want to provide an income for your dependants when you die.
As these different elements can affect the annual income you could receive, you can use our annuity calculator to compare which choices and combinations would be best for you.
There are also a variety of annuity options to consider, such as whether or not you want your income to increase each year, and by what percentage, as well as the minimum number of years you wish to guarantee your income to be paid for, e.g. if you choose to guarantee your income for the maximum period of 30 years and you die after 15 years, the income is guaranteed to continue being paid to your beneficiary or your estate for the remaining 15 years. The period you can choose will be less if you are above age 70.
Please remember that our annuity calculator is for guidance purposes only. It may be that you are entitled to a higher income if you suffer from health conditions such as type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol, have high blood pressure or are a smoker.
