Churchill Retirement Living busts some of the biggest misconceptions about living in a retirement apartment.

Think a retirement apartment is not for you? Think again!

You may have many reasons for wanting to downsize, whether you’d like to be nearer to relatives, be closer to the heart of town, or leave behind the hassle of maintaining a larger home. More and more people are making the transition to a more manageable property in order to enjoy more time spent doing the things they want to do in their retirement.

If this sounds like you, don’t be put off by some of the common myths surrounding retirement living. Here are some of the biggest misconceptions busted…

Would I have to find a new home for my pet?

No; well-behaved dogs, cats or caged birds are welcome in all our apartments. To ensure the privacy and comfort of other owners, we simply ask that prior permission is obtained in writing from the Lodge Manager.

Car parking

Will I have to give up my car?

No, all our developments have free car parking for owners and you will never be forced to give up your car. We understand that for many people their car is a symbol of independence that it’s hard to imagine life without. However, we often find that after moving into a Churchill development in the heart of town, near to all the shops, amenities and public transport links, many of our owners find they can continue to lead an active and independent lifestyle without the hassle and expense of running a car.

The move

Won’t moving be too difficult and take too long?

It may seem that moving is a lot of hassle and selling your home can take a long time. However, there is a lot of help available, and with our Selling Made Easy and Home Exchange services Churchill can hold your hand every step of the way.

Your independence

Won’t I be giving up my freedom and independence?

It’s a common myth amongst retirees that staying in their current home will allow them to have more independence. Fortunately, when moving into a retirement apartment, the reality is quite the opposite. You will have keys to your own front door and as much privacy as you wish, friends on your doorstep to socialise with whenever you feel like it, no worries about maintenance, and more freedom to spend time doing the things you want to do.

Try before you buy with a stay in the Guest Suite

In all Churchill developments there is a Guest Suite for the use of family and friends. Why not take advantage of this and stay in a Churchill development to see what the retirement living lifestyle is really all about? You’ll be able to meet the other owners, the Lodge Manager and get a general feel of what living in a Churchill development is like. We’re sure you’d be impressed.

Churchill Retirement Living’s quality one and two bedroom retirement apartments are available to buy in convenient town centre locations all over the country. They offer highly attractive and spacious rooms throughout, which have been considerately designed with the over 60s in mind.

All apartments benefit from subtle touches like easy-turn lever taps in both the kitchen and bathroom and illuminated light switches for added convenience. Fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob and an oven, all located at an easy-reach height. Owners can also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system for the highest level of security and a 24 hour emergency call system.

Owners have the privacy of their own apartment with their own front door, but are also free to join in with the regular social activities that take place. Aside from their own domestic bills, each owner pays a management charge, which covers all maintenance and running costs for the development ensuring it is maintained to the highest standard.

Developments are set in landscaped grounds in town centre locations, with free car parking available, and usually just a short walk from public transport links, shops and all the local amenities owners could want.

A Lodge Manager employed by Churchill’s own management company – Millstream Management Services – oversees the day-to-day running of every Churchill development, offering a friendly face to turn to, and taking care of all the upkeep and maintenance so that owners don’t have to.

Instead, owners can relax and take advantage of the host of other benefits on offer, including having family or friends to stay in their development’s well-appointed Guest Suite, enjoying a chat with neighbours, or attending social events in the Owners’ Lounge.
