Pay and benefits
We think it’s only right that when we do well, our people do too. That’s why we share our business success by awarding all eligible colleagues free Saga shares. We also pride ourselves on making sure our pay and benefits are competitive and fair, as we continue to embed our reward principles. For all colleagues, we maintain a 20p uplift between minimum pay levels and the national Living Wage.

And because we know everyone learns differently, we continue to introduce new, on demand, and flexible ways for colleagues to learn and grow.
In 2021 our colleagues invested almost 10,000 days (which is an average of 30 hours of learning per colleague) developing their skills and capabilities across a range of learning activities, from technical training, apprenticeships and formal qualifications, to inspiring speaker events on diversity, mental health, leadership development and growth mindset.
We work with organisations and individuals who can show us new and interesting ways of seeing the world, and we build the skills and capabilities to provide exceptional experiences everyday for our customers and colleagues.

“I started twenty seven years ago as a Customer Service agent in our call centre, and have moved roles every two or three years, from Finance, to Marketing, as well as Digital and Data. Over the years, I’ve learned to write code, how to use data to drive performance, as well as how to manage teams, projects and large budgets. I’ve even travelled to China, South Africa, Europe and the USA for work. I’m fortunate to have picked up experience in Insurance, Travel, Personal Finance and Publishing, and now use the knowledge I’ve gained to work across all our companies. If you’re open minded and keen to learn, there are always opportunities to learn new skills and gain new experience at Saga. Right now, I’m helping migrate all data and analytics to the cloud, so that all parts of Saga have access to all our data in a much faster platform, which will help drive better performance and customer experience.”
Supporting our communities
We’re a major employer in Folkestone. We also have satellite offices in Thanet, Hastings, Redhill, London and Durham and are proud to support our local communities through our colleague volunteer days and charitable giving.
Committed to being a positive driver of change in our communities, we encourage our colleagues to participate in events that will not only support our preferred charities, but also help to bring us together as one team:
- In 2018 we launched the Saga workplace lottery. All the money raised is distributed to charities and good causes.
- As part of our payroll giving scheme, colleagues can also donate to charity directly from their salary.
- As well as promoting Saga’s preferred charities, we also support our colleagues who are fundraising for other charities through our matched funding scheme. Each month, colleagues have the opportunity to tell us about their fundraising activities and apply for matched funding.
- Saga is extremely proud to be a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, a recognition scheme that rewards the efforts of organisations which provide support to this community.
At Saga, we’re always looking to engage with the local community. Working with a number of schools, colleges, employment advisers and community organisations, we offer work experience, careers talks and support for all sectors of the community to ensure they’re aware of the opportunities available at Saga.
