As many as 92% of men and 96% of women felt stress towards at least one of the circumstances we presented to them. Stress towards driving can be caused by many reasons, such as a road accident or a previous negative experience, never encountering certain scenarios before, worrying about the unknown, concern around facing problems alone, stress in other areas of life, or health conditions like deteriorating vision or generalised anxiety, for example.
Susan suggests that stress can also stem from other road users:
“Many drivers feel reasonably confident in their own driving skills but are wary of dangerous, careless, or uninsured other road users.”
