No one wants the inconvenience of being without a car. With a courtesy car from Saga car insurance you can still get around while your car is being repaired.

If you’ve owned a car for a long time, it’s hard to remember how you ever managed without it. Commutes to work, trips to do the food shop, popping to the coast for a weekend break. Cars are so vital for getting around, it can be incredibly stressful if you’re suddenly without one. Thankfully, having a courtesy car with your insurance cover can help with that.

What is a courtesy car?

A courtesy car is a temporary replacement car that you’re given so you can stay mobile if your car is being repaired after an accident.

Does Saga car insurance give me a courtesy car?

Yes. With our Comprehensive cover levels, a courtesy car will be provided as standard while yours is being repaired. All you need to do is take your car to one of our approved repairers and you’ll be given a replacement car, subject to availability.

You also have the option to add replacement car extension cover, which means that you’ll be able to get a courtesy car if your car is stolen or written off. This includes an automatic £100 cash benefit to help you pay for any extra costs.

What kind of courtesy car will I get?

You’ll get a small manual transmission hatchback up to 1200cc, such as a Ford KA. Or an automatic if that’s what you normally drive. And don’t worry – the courtesy car will be covered by your existing policy so you’ll already be insured to drive it.

How does including a courtesy car with insurance work?

It's simple, if you have Comprehensive cover and you car is involved in an accident, we’ll give you a car to keep you mobile while yours is being repaired.

How long can I keep a courtesy car for?

You keep the courtesy car for as long as your own car is being repaired. The repairer will let you know once your vehicle is fixed, and then you’ll need to drop off your courtesy car at the same time you pick yours up.

When won’t I be given a courtesy car?

You won’t be given a courtesy car if:

  • Your car is damaged outside of the UK
  • You don’t use one of our approved repairers
  • Your car is stolen or can’t be repaired (unless you have replacement car extension cover)
