Your votes are in...
The last year has had a devastating effect on our communities and life has been put on hold for many people. We created a Saga Community Fund as we wanted to contribute to projects that bring communities and people together again after the social disconnection of lockdown.
Last month on the hub we invited you to tell us which causes we should support. The options were:
- Digital inclusion - enabling access to online services and helping people to become comfortable and confident when using these.
- Loneliness and isolation - supporting projects which are supporting issues of loneliness and isolation, and supporting those missing social interaction.
- Community cohesion - helping to strengthen communities through volunteering opportunities and community based initiatives which are inclusive for all.
- Covid recovery - helping community projects adapt and diversify to the new normal in a way that aids recovery as we start to emerge from the pandemic
Loneliness and isolation and community cohesion got overwhelming support when the votes came in.
In terms of helping those feeling isolated we've been pleased to support charities such as Mind and The Silver Line already and you can read more about the work of these two worthwhile charities on our coronavirus help and support page.
We are now exploring further opportunities to support projects tackling issues around loneliness and bringing neighbourhoods back together, and we will update you more on this soon!
