Limit tea, coffee, fizzy drinks and alcohol after 6pm. Avoid drinking anything after 10pm. Eat more fruit and veg, avoid processed food and shed excess kilos.
Know your triggers. Keep a diary and plan loo breaks.

Need to know
There are three main types of bladder weakness:
1. Stress incontinence: weakened pelvic floor muscles cause leakage if you cough, sneeze or laugh.
2. Urge incontinence or overactive bladder: a sudden, uncontrollable urge to urinate, which typically affects older women. It happens when the bladder contracts when it shouldn't, allowing urine to leak out. It can strike at any time or anywhere, even during sleep.
3. Mixed incontinence… as the name suggests a mixture of stress and urge incontinence.
There are two other types of incontinence: overflow incontinence when you can’t empty your bladder fully, causing frequent leaking; and total incontinence, when your bladder can’t store urine at all, leading to the constant passage of urine or frequent leaking.
