You’re not paying for younger drivers

Not everyone knows this, but your insurance premium isn’t just about your own circumstances – it’s about everyone else the car insurance provider insures too.

As we are only insuring the over 50s, the fact that older drivers are considered less of a risk compared with newly qualified motorists means we can keep our premiums down. A study by Swansea University has found that drivers over 70 are involved in 3 to 4 times fewer accidents than 17-21 year old men, as reported by the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors.

When you’re a newly qualified driver and your premium is sky-high, you might have no choice but to go for the cheapest quote – it’s all that’s manageable. Getting older, with the consequent decrease in premiums, means you can afford to choose a better quality insurer – one who offers not just excellent, comprehensive cover, but who will look after you properly when you need to make a claim. Our over 50s car insurance has no upper age limit and is jam-packed with features that we know benefit our customers.

Protected No Claim Discount

Our customers are often experienced, careful drivers who have built up a substantial No Claim Discount over time. We think it’s unfair that you should lose it because of one mistake.

That’s why, if you’ve built up four years’ No Claim Discount or more – either with us or someone else – and have had no more than one fault claim in the last three years, we’ll protect your No Claim Discount

This means that in any three-year period, we’ll allow you to make two claims without your discount being affected.

European cover

We know that many of our customers make the most of the increased freedom that comes with getting older by taking extended trips to the Continent. So we’ve chosen to extend our cover not just across the UK, but throughout the European Union and beyond.

Whenever you go abroad, you’re automatically covered to drive in 33 European countries – for as long as you like. Best of all, you get the same level of cover as you do in the UK, whether that’s Third Party only, Third Party Fire and Theft, or Comprehensive. Breakdown cover

Uninsured driver cover and vandalism cover

With the roads getting busier all the time, being left out of pocket through no fault of your own is an alarming prospect. That’s why, if your car’s damaged by vandals or an uninsured driver, your No Claim Discount won’t be affected.

We’ll also refund your excess if you’re hit by an uninsured driver – just make sure you get their registration number.

Medical emergency cover

It’s an unfortunate truth that as one gets older, some bits start to not work so well. Your welfare is our priority, so if you’re driving and suddenly become too unwell to continue, our cover allows any other driver to take the wheel and ensure you get home or to your destination safely.

Get-you-home cover and courtesy car

Many of our customers rely on their cars and would be seriously inconvenienced without them. Again, your safety and comfort are our priority. So if your car’s damaged or stolen while you’re out and about and you can’t drive home, we’ll reimburse you and your passengers for either the cost of getting back another way, or staying in a hotel.

We also provide a Replacement Car if your car is damaged and being repaired by one of our approved repairers. You can also choose to add extended cover so that you have a car to use should yours unfortunately be stolen or written off.
